While THF has already initiated and launched online blended learning for selected Co-Curricular program activities in 2019, the management in response to the on-going lock-down due to Corona virus outbreak in Pakistan. Instructors are asked to cover the theory part in these down times, so practical classes can be given the due hours and more time once the institute reopens. Like other mainstream schools THF is implementing a mitigation strategy by delivering theoretical content online. Our objective is the continuation of our training programs through an online platform to reduce loss of studies due to COVID-19 and to encourage effective communication between the instructors and students.
Our main challenge is ensuring that students are able to access the material being shared online - therefore we have planned and used platforms that most of our students are already somewhat familiar with. Instructors are developing content/lectures that can be shared with students. Students will be able to access the material through Web 2.0 or social media applications that students find easy to use and familiar with, including WhatsApp, SKYPE etc. Through these applications, instructors are able to engage with learners and respond to questions and comments. Formative assessment or quizzes are also being conducted to gauge student learning through these methods.
Our Institutes are also working on further development of online learning to be able to address future situations such as these as well as to further enhance the process to minimize the negative impact on student learning should the lock-down persist for a longer time period.

and has introduced Cooperative Vocational Training (CVT) Program in Mechanical Manufacturing and specialised CNC Trade under TVET Support Programme. This is a two-year program where trainees will be selected to get one year training at Hunar Foundation's DMS Technical Institute, Karachi and spend the next year getting On-The-Job training.
As this program requires partners from the industry who subsidize the cost of the training and give OJT opportunity to students in the second year, four companies - OJ (Omar Jibran) Engineering, PROCON, SuperTech and NES Engineering have teamed up with Hunar Foundation for this inaugural program.
An awareness and admission campaign was run in newspapers and through handbills that attracted a large number of potential students for the test out of which the first batch was selected to start classes from January 2016.
The program is now into its fifth month and the students will soon be working on actual CNC machines that Hunar Foundation is procuring as well as simulators. Normally institutes take students to existing facilities for CNC machine training. But Hunar management felt that presence of machine and simulator on campus would allow for more hours on the machine rather than be constrained by the time granted by any other facility.
This is in line with the Trustees and management's vision that the students get the best and latest equipment and machinery at the campus itself. The next batch of Cooperative Vocational Training (CVT) Program in Mechanical Manufacturing and specialised CNC Trade will begin in July for which the admission campaign will begin in early June.
Hunar Foundation not only offers vocational training to the youth, but also helps them with job placement.
To help facilitate the students better, a career fair was held at Hunar foundation's DMS Technical Institute, Karachi. Around 75 recent graduates' alumni attended the event out of which 35 individuals were selected and offered jobs on the spot and the rest called for second interviews.
Some of the latter part of candidates were also offered jobs outside the job fair as Hunar Foundation's Industrial Linkages and Placement office also arranges interviews at the premises of companies and buses Hunar graduates to locations as far away as Port Qasim and Hub.
With the start of the new session in all institutes an Open Day was held where parents of admitted students were invited for tea and snacks and given a guided tour of the campus. It was refreshing to see the parents'
happiness that their son was going to study in the same environment and comfort that the children of high net worth individuals do; in some cases better than those schools.
Hunar was proud to be part of the CSR gallery with our exclusive information desk to raise awareness about the foundation's mission, and contribution towards a skilled Pakistan.
